เชลล์เปิดตัวเทศกาล MAKE THE FUTURE ครั้งแรกในสิงคโปร์ รวมสุดยอดไอเดียและนวัตกรรมล้ำสมัยของเอเชีย
เกาะติดการแข่งขันรถยนต์แห่งอนาคตที่ออกแบบโดยนักศึกษา ในการแข่งขัน เชลล์ อีโค-มาราธอน เอเชีย ภายในงาน Make the Future Singapore ในปี 2560

กรุงเทพฯ 5 ตุลาคม 2559 - ในปี พ.ศ. 2560 สิงคโปร์จะทำหน้าที่เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงาน Make the Future ของเชลล์ในเอเชียเป็นครั้งแรก พร้อมจัดการแข่งขัน เชลล์ อีโค-มาราธอน เอเชีย ในงานด้วย โดยงานนี้จัดขึ้นเป็นเวลา 4 วัน ตั้งแต่วันที่ 16-19 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2560 และผู้ที่สนใจสามารถเข้าร่วมงานได้โดยไม่ต้องเสียค่าใช้จ่ายใดๆ สำหรับงาน Make the Future จะมุ่งเน้นไปยังแนวคิดสุดล้ำด้านพลังงานและนวัตกรรมที่ตอบสนองต่อความท้าทายด้านพลังงานของโลก คือ การสร้างพลังงานให้มากขึ้น แต่ลดการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ให้น้อยลง
ภายในงาน Make the Future Singapore ผู้เข้าชมจะได้สัมผัสประสบการณ์เกี่ยวกับแนวคิดต่างๆ มากมาย ที่ก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์ต่อการสร้างสรรค์ไอเดียแก่ผู้เข้าชม รวมทั้งได้ร่วมเดินทางสู่อนาคตที่มีการใช้พลังงานอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและมีการใช้คาร์บอนต่ำด้วย ผู้เข้าชมจะได้ร่วมสำรวจสถานการณ์ในปัจจุบันและแนวโน้มในอนาคตที่น่าจะเป็นไปได้ของพลังงานแห่งอนาคต ตั้งแต่พลังงานหมุนเวียนไปจนถึงก๊าซธรรมชาติ เทคโนโลยีคาร์บอนต่ำ รวมทั้งยังได้เรียนรู้แนวคิดอันล้ำสมัยจากทั่วเอเชีย ตลอดจนเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมในโซนอินเตอร์แอคทีฟเกี่ยวกับพลังงานในอนาคต โมบิลิตี้ และนวัตกรรมจากเชลล์และพันธมิตรอื่นๆ ผ่านโซนประสบการณ์เสมือนจริงและโซนการทดลองเชิงปฏิบัติอีกด้วย
นับเป็นครั้งแรกในรอบ 8 ปีของการแข่งขันเชลล์ อีโค-มาราธอนในเอเชีย ที่เชลล์จะจัดขึ้นที่ประเทศสิงคโปร์ ในปี พ.ศ. 2560 หลังจากที่เคยจัดแข่งขันเชลล์ อีโค-มาราธอนในเอเชียไปแล้วที่กรุงกัวลาลัมเปอร์ ประเทศมาเลเซีย ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2553 - 2555 ตามด้วยกรุงมะนิลา ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2556 – 2559 โดยการแข่งขันเชลล์ อีโค-มาราธอน ซึ่งถือเป็นไฮไลท์ของงาน Make the Future นั้น นับเป็นการแข่งขันที่มีเอกลักษณ์ที่จัดขึ้นสำหรับนักเรียนนักศึกษาที่มีความสนใจในการพัฒนาโซลูชั่นนวัตกรรมด้านการขับเคลื่อน และท้าทายให้ผู้แข่งขันคิดค้นการออกแบบ พัฒนา ขับเคลื่อน และแข่งขันเพื่อสรรค์สร้างยานพาหนะให้สามารถใช้พลังงานได้อย่างคุ้มค่าที่สุดในโลก โดยทีมนักเรียนนักศึกษาสามารถเข้าร่วมการแข่งขันเชลล์ อีโค-มาราธอน เอเชีย โดยมี 2 ประเภทให้เลือก คือ ประเภท Prototype รถต้นแบบแห่งอนาคต ที่มีแรงขับเคลื่อนสูง กับประเภท Urban รถที่พัฒนาด้วยนวัตกรรมใหม่และมีความคุ้มค่า มีลักษณะใกล้เคียงกับรถยนต์ในปัจจุบัน โดยรถดังกล่าวจะต้องได้รับการตรวจสอบทางเทคนิคอย่างละเอียด ก่อนที่จะได้รับอนุญาตให้เข้าร่วมการแข่งขัน เพื่อทดสอบว่าสามารถขับไปได้ไกลเพียงใดด้วยปริมาณเชื้อเพลิงที่น้อยที่สุด ทีมที่สามารถสร้างรถซึ่งใช้พลังงานได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพที่สุดจะได้รับรางวัลในหลายประเภท
นอกจากนี้ ในการแข่งขันเชลล์ อีโค-มาราธอน เอเชีย ที่ประเทศสิงคโปร์ในปี พ.ศ. 2560 ยังจะมีการเปิดตัวครั้งปฐมฤกษ์ของ Regional Drivers’ Championship เส้นทางการแข่งขันอันน่าตื่นเต้นซึ่งบรรดาทีมที่ดีที่สุดจากเอเชียจะได้เข้าร่วมแข่งขันเพื่อมุ่งสู่ Drivers’ World Championship ณ กรุงลอนดอน ในปี พ.ศ. 2560 ซึ่งนับเป็นการแข่งขันที่ดุเดือดและน่าตื่นเต้น เพื่อชิงความเป็นหนึ่งในฐานะนักแข่งที่สามารถใช้พลังงานได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพมากที่สุด
สาเหตุที่สิงคโปร์ได้รับคัดเลือกให้เป็นสถานที่จัดงาน Make the Future ครั้งแรกในเอเชีย เพราะมีที่ตั้งทางยุทธศาสตร์ที่เหมาะสม รวมทั้งมีระบบขนส่งและการเดินทางที่เหมาะอย่างยิ่งสำหรับการจัดนิทรรศการและการประชุม และเนื่องจากงาน Make the Future เป็นแหล่งรวมไอเดียและนวัตกรรมใหม่ๆ งานนี้จะสามารถดึงดูดความสนใจทั้งคนรุ่นเก่าและคนรุ่นใหม่ โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อสร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้กับผู้ร่วมงาน ทั้งบุคคลทั่วไป ชุมชนต่างๆ หน่วยงานภาครัฐและภาคธุรกิจทั่วเอเชีย ให้มารวมตัวกัน เพื่อสร้างความเปลี่ยนแปลงให้เกิดขึ้นอย่างมีความรับผิดชอบและสร้างสรรค์
